The KGM 500 is a Broadway market index used to track the overall health of the market based on the grosses of 5 long-running shows. This week, the KGM 500 dropped to $5,653,870, the lowest we’ve seen this season. While it was a tough week on Broadway, the overall Broadway grosses didn’t decline quite as sharply, which suggests that audiences this week were gravitating towards newer shows rather than the legacy productions. With fresh productions now debuting each week in the 24/25 Tony season, it’s expected that established shows are seeing a drop in audience as people flock to these exciting new offerings.
The Average Ticket Price graph shows a comparison of ATP for new musicals and plays that opened in the 2024/25 season. This week, ATP for new musicals dipped slightly to $107.45, while ATP for new plays skyrocketed to $180.16. The highest we’ve seen this season, this ATP is a result of the starry new production of Othello, which grossed $2.6 million this past week, with an ATP of $361.
